Stan Kidderick is a former computer programmer in his early thirties who parades around town in a ninja mask and almost always carries a ninja sword. Stan doesn’t actually have any real ninja like ability, but that doesn’t stop him from being the world’s first ninja detective. For the past few months, Stan has run a private investigation service from a small office in downtown Manhattan where he also lives. Due to the hours he has spent and continues to spend in front of a computer, Stan has developed a few quirks beyond thinking that he is a ninja, and isn’t very confident or secure in social situations. He is kind, very smart, technically gifted, and prefers spending time alone. Stan wears his mask to hide from something, but only he knows what that is.

Andrea Zuwowski is an NYPD police officer in her late twenties. Her family is from Trinidad, but has Polish blood mixed in. She lives in Brooklyn with her mother and younger brother in the same house she grew up in. Andrea is described by her friends as kind of an odd bird who marches to the beat of her own drum. She is beautiful, loyal, strong, and full of life. Lately, Andrea has been trying to step up her performance at work and lose her reputation as a rebel. She really wants to get a promotion and be given more important police work, but she just can’t seem to get things to turn out in her favor.

Maria Pineda is Andrea’s closest female friend and is also an NYPD police officer. She joined the force at the same time as Andrea and was even in police academy with her before they were assigned to the same precinct. Maria is the strongest and most independent of Andrea’s friends and is known within their social group as the one who is most worldly. Andrea will generally look to Maria for support or advice and although it rarely happens, when Maria is in need of the same, Andrea is who she’ll ask.

Katherine O’Flynn has known Andrea and Maria since police academy and has thus made her way into their social group, but she is the girl who everyone is least close to. Her superior attitude and her tendency to be more conservative then her friends are what cause this alienation. She is a hard working police officer and is also very hungry to find the man of her dreams, which sometimes comes across as desperation. Katherine used to work in the same precinct as Andrea, Maria, and Jeffrey, but was transferred to another precinct at her request.

Jeffrey Williamson is Andrea’s closest male friend and also works in her same precinct. Jeffrey and Andrea have never had a romantic relationship as Jeffrey is gay, but they are very close and care very much about each other’s well being. Jeffrey did not meet Andrea in police academy like the rest of their social group, but was brought in by Andrea after they bonded on the job. He is handsome, warm and affectionate, and watches over Andrea like an older brother.
